Walk the whole length of the pier, watching the surfers below, and see who spots a dolphin first. At the very end, step into the little Roundhouse Aquarium for touch pools, sharks, an octopus and jellyfish. On the walk back, get a photo of you with the whole pier and the Roundhouse behind you.

About this place

The concrete pier dates to 1920 and is one of the oldest of its kind on the West Coast. The round building at the end has been rebuilt over the years and now holds the Roundhouse Aquarium, run by a nonprofit. It's free, but a small donation helps, and no food or drinks are allowed inside.

Manhattan Beach is famous for beach volleyball. The Manhattan Beach Open has been played on the sand by the pier since 1960.
