Safety
Have fun, and use good judgment.
Missions are ideas, not instructions. You know your own health, skills, gear and group, so you decide whether a mission is right for you. If something feels unsafe when you get there, skip it. Doing a mission is your choice and at your own risk.
Before you go
- Check hours, tickets, weather, closures and conditions. Details can change, and we can't promise a listing is current.
- Tell someone where you're going and when you'll be back, especially if there may be no cell service.
- Bring water, food, layers and a way to navigate offline.
- Distances on AmbleBee are as the bee flies, measured in a straight line, not by road. Driving is often farther: rivers, bays and mountains can make the trip much longer, sometimes double. Check the route in Google or Apple Maps (linked on every mission) before you head out, especially for sunsets, tours or anything with a set start time.
Outdoors
- Stay on marked trails, and away from cliff edges, fast water and cave areas you aren't equipped for.
- Water can be colder and stronger than it looks. Wear a life jacket on boats and paddle trips.
- Watch wildlife from a distance and never feed it.
- Never eat wild plants, berries or mushrooms unless you're completely sure what they are and foraging is allowed there.
Rules and permission
- Follow posted rules and local laws, and get any permits you need.
- Stay off private property unless you have permission. This matters for metal detecting, collecting and exploring.
- Be respectful in cemeteries, historic sites and other people's neighborhoods.
- If you drink, be of legal age and don't drive.
Kids and night missions
- Kids need an adult with them on every mission. Adults decide what's suitable and watch closely near water, roads, heights and wildlife.
- At night, bring a light, stick to places you know are safe, and go with someone when you can.
In an emergency
Call 911 or your local emergency number.
About the listings
We check missions as carefully as we can, but mistakes happen and places change. A listing doesn't mean a place has endorsed AmbleBee or that we're connected with it. Spot something wrong or unsafe? Use "Report a problem" on the mission, or contact us.
