Wooden Shoe Tulip Fest

Walk the Wooden Shoe tulip fields near Woodburn in bloom. Find a row in your favorite color.

During the spring Tulip Fest, walk the tulip fields with Mount Hood in the distance. Each pick your favorite color row and take a photo standing in it, with the mountain behind you if it's out. Then hunt for the strangest-looking tulip in the field and show it off. Wear boots; the fields can be muddy.

About this place

The Iverson family has farmed this land near Woodburn since 1950 and started growing tulips in 1974. In 1985 a neighbor suggested opening the fields to the public, and the family put an ad in the local paper for Easter weekend. Tulip Fest has grown every spring since.

Today about 40 acres bloom with more than 100 kinds of tulips each March and April, with views of Mount Hood on clear days. There's a wine tasting room overlooking the fields, and food trucks and a small farmers market on weekends. Sunrise and golden hour make the best photos. Get tickets ahead, and check the bloom before you go. Make a day of it with Antiquing in Aurora, about ten minutes up the road.
