Portland Saturday Market

Browse Saturday Market. Each pick a handmade gift for the other, under $20.

Wander the stalls of Portland's big open-air craft market by the Willamette. Split up for a few minutes and each find one handmade thing under $20 for someone else in your group (draw names if there are more than two of you). Meet back up, get a photo of the big gift swap, then grab lunch from the food carts.

About this place

Portland Saturday Market was started in 1974 by two local craftspeople, and it's now the largest continuously running outdoor market in the country. The rule that makes it special: everything sold at Saturday Market has to be made by the person selling it. It's run by its own members, more than 400 of them across this market and the neighboring Skidmore Market.

It runs every Saturday from March through December in Tom McCall Waterfront Park, just south of the Burnside Bridge. Sunday markets have come and gone over the years, so check the schedule if you're going on a Sunday.
